PGA TOUR Legends Swing into Town for the Hoag Classic on March 4th to 8th, 2020

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., January 31, 2020 — Celebrating its 25th year (22nd with Hoag as host operations and beneficiary), the Hoag Classic returns to Newport Beach Country Club on March 4th to 8th, 2020 with Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian as title sponsor and presenting partners Konica Minolta and City National Bank. As the finest stop on the PGA TOUR Champions, the Hoag Classic will draw golf legends back to Newport Beach Country Club to compete for the $1.8 million purse.

“This year marks an exciting milestone for the Hoag Classic. In the past 25 years combined, we have drawn in more than 1.5 million fans and 1,500 volunteers who have donated more than 1 million hours of their time,” said Jeff Purser, executive director of the Hoag Classic. “The Hoag Classic has benefited from outstanding and generous people in our community over its 25 years and we are proud to host an event that not only contributes to the health and vitality of our community, but creates compelling competition for our fans to enjoy.”

Ernie Els, Fred Couples, Retief Goosen, Ángel Cabrera, Bernhard Langer, Vijay Singh, John Daly and Miguel Ángel Jiménez, challenging 2019 Champion Kirk Triplett are expected among 80 players to compete in the 2020 tournament. The Hoag Classic features players with more than 500 worldwide professional victories, including 50 major championships. With more than $20 million in total charitable proceeds raised throughout its history, the tournament is one of the most successful philanthropic events on the PGA TOUR Champions. This year, the tournament’s net proceeds will benefit Hoag’s programs and services, as well as other local charities.

Schedule of Events

An experience for the whole family, attendees will have access to activations throughout the course, including The Military Village presented by CoreLogic, featuring the PAU Maui “Toast to the Troops” Bar, the Hoag Health Village, Corona Premier Pavilion, the Lincoln Auto Experience, the “Tee it High, Let it Fly” flight deck presented by John Wayne Airport on Hole 15, and the Active PDF Pin challenge on Hole 17.

The annual “Breakfast with a Champion,” presented by Allergan, will be held in advance of the tournament on Tuesday, March 3 at Newport Beach Country Club featuring golfing legend and former World No. 1 Ernie Els up-close and personal. This is a private event and tickets are sold out.

On Wednesday, March 4 and Thursday, March 5, the Legends Pro-Am presented by Konica Minolta is the first event of tournament week open to the public. Attending these days gives fans an opportunity to catch golf legends in a more relaxed environment before the competition begins.

The Hoag Classic Championship Weekend will kick off on Friday, March 6 with Corporate Day, presented by City National Bank, giving local business professionals an opportunity to get out of the office and engage with clients during the first round of competition. After play, those with Clubhouse badges can enjoy live music from Mark Wood, presented by John Wayne Airport, as part of their JWALive music program at the Airport.

Saturday, March 7 will honor current and former servicemen and women with Military Appreciation Day, presented by CoreLogic. All active duty, military reserve, National Guard, military retirees and veterans – and up to three guests each – will receive complimentary admission with food and beverage to thank them for their service. Beginning Saturday, guests can plant a flag in remembrance of a loved one who is serving or who has served at the Konica Minolta “Field of Flags,” benefiting the Navy Memorial Foundation.

For the Final Round on Sunday, March 8, attendees ages 18 and under will receive complimentary admission for Youth Day, presented by Kingston Technology. Youth can enjoy the Kids Fun Zone and participate in a putting contest with the opportunity to win tournament merchandise, tickets to local attractions and more. Kingston Technology and Hoag Charity Sports will also be awarding $70,000 in scholarships to deserving students.

Good-Any-One-Day tickets for the Hoag Classic are available online before the event for $25. Tickets purchased at the Main Gate on the day of the event are $30. Tickets can also be purchased in advance at participating Roger Dunn Golf Stores. Children age 11 and under receive complimentary admission beginning Wednesday, March 4 through Sunday, March 8.
